Serious Accident on Route 236

November 29, 2007

The Rescue Engine, both Medic units, Engine, and Battalion Chief were assigned to a two vehicle crash that shut down east and west bound 236 late Thursday night.  A Jeep SUV struck a telephone pole with such force that the vehicle was sheared in half….the second row seat and rear axle were left wrapped around the telephone pole as the car continued to spin through the intersection of Route 236 at Olley Lane.  It was in the intersection that a second vehicle struck the SUV.  The occupant of the SUV was found unconscious on the roadway near the vehicle (reportedly ejected).  Battalion 443 assumed “236 Command.”   Medic 403 transported the first patient to INOVA Fairfax Hospital.  The driver of the second vehicle was transported to Fairfax Hospital as well by Medic 403.
