A-Shift Rescue Training

By Lieutenant Craig Evans
March 8, 2010

FS33 A-Shift (Schumacher, Evans, Gorres, Bowers, Shipko, Young) rescue training. We began with a car on all four wheels. Flipped the car onto its roof, then performed a complete side-wall-removal, and then an oyster maneuver to gain more room to remove potential victims in the event of a severely crushed roof with entanglement into the seats. The oyster maneuver is performed by cutting the A and C posts and then using a RAM to lift the vehicle away from the roof while struts, anchored under the vehicle to the other side maintain stabilization. The strut bases are ratcheted tighter as the vehicle is lifted.

Units: RE433, M433
