Multi-Unit Rescue Drills

Local 2702, July 19

Each shift had the opportunity this week to train in Rescue Squad scenarios at Redman's Towing in Lorton. Crews spent the morning and afternoon engaged in stabilization, lifting, and extrication drills before completing a challenging group scenario at the end of the day.

B shift Runs Townhouse Fire in box 1716

Prior to the turn of the new year members of B-shift were dispatched to box 1716 for a middle unit townhouse with heavy fire showing. T403 (Dunstan, Mackay, Slusher, Keyser) , FE403 (Shumacher, Whelpley, Cubbage, Davison), and RE433 (Pike, Craven, Washenko, Pierce) responded as first truck, second engine, and squad on the initial alarm. Fire Department Donates to Family in Need

Every year the Department collects money to support a local family in need during the holidays. 'A' Shift and the chiefs delivered some much needed winter coats and Thanksgiving Dinner last Wednesday.

The Department is looking forward to delivering Christmas presents later this month along with Santa Claus of course!

B Shift Runs Fatal Accident on Jermantown Road

B Shift, November 25

At 0135 Rescue Engine 433, Medic 403, and Battalion 443 were dispatched along with Fairfax County Engine and Medic 434 to 2830 Jermantown Road in Box 3409 for an accident with injury with a report of a subject trapped. Engine 434 subsequently arrived on the scene first and established Jermantown Road Command and confirmed a single car MVA with the driver trapped and unconscious. Rescue Engine 433 ...
