During the drill you get to focus on communication, following a tag/search line, and several other basic firefighter skills. We stole this idea from a magazine so we can't take all the credit. A-Shift Rescue Training
MARCH 08
- FS33 A-Shift (Schumacher, Evans, Gorres, Bowers, Shipko, Young) rescue training. We began with a car on all four wheels. Flipped the car onto its roof, then performed a complete side-wall-removal, and then an oyster maneuver to gain more room to remove potential victims in the event of a severely crushed roof with entanglement into the seats. B-Shift Foam Engine 403 Car Fire
MARCH 02
- Foam Engine 403-B (Alexander) deploys a line to a Jeep Wagoneer with fire in the engine compartment. The driver of the vehicle was driving North on Ox Road when he began seeing smoke. City Units Go to Work in Vienna
MARCH 01
- Just after noon E402 and TL430 were alerted for an alarm bells call in Box 219 on the north side of Vienna. While enroute they were notified this would be a working fire and the box was filled for a residential building fire. Two Members Attend Ice Rescue Technician TtT
FEBRUARY 22
- On February 18th Lieutenant Dunstan and Technician Mackay headed to Hancock, New Hampshire to attend an Ice Rescue Technician Train-the-Trainer course. The class was four days long and most of it was spent in an ice rescue suit. The class was attended by public safety personnel from five different states. RE433 Arrives First in Box 2300
FEBRUARY 16
- On February 16th, RE433 (Jeckell), FE403 (Alexander), T403 (Trottman) were dispatched to West Ananndale for an appliance fire at a church pre-school. RE433 was first to arrive on scene and found heavy black smoke pushing from the Delta side as well as fire from side Charlie. Chief Owen's Retirement Party

- On February 1st, 2010 the City of Fairfax lost a very important asset not only to the Fire Department but to the entire City and Region. Chief Owen's accomplished so many things during his tenure with the City. C-Shift goes to work at 2-alarm apartment fire
FEBRUARY 10
- On the evening of 2/8/10 T403, BC443, and E403 were dispatched to a garden apartment fire, with reports of fire on a third story balcony. RE433 was added on the second alarm. E421 and R421 arrived onscene of a 4 story garden apartment building, confirming fire on a balcony side C extending to the roof and they would be stretching a line to the upper level. Rescue Engine 433 With One Trapped
JANUARY 29
- Just after dinner, Rescue Engine 433 (Vita) and Medic 433 (Evans) were alerted to an accident with injury at Chain Bridge Rd. and Eaton Pl. RE433 arrived on scene to find a two car MVA with 1 patient trapped from a T-Bone collision. RE433 quickly stabilized, and extricated the trapped person by removing the drivers door.
